Oh my, Kaarin! You are the queen of adventures, and Sonja is a rock star. I would put myself into your hands any day to get out of a jam, so you could help me find the unexpected bright side. It is a complete truism that some of the greatest mistakes and failures in life lead to our greatest triumphs. As our friend Maria Von Trapp said, "When God closes a door, somewhere he opens a window." Thanks for that reminder, my friend. May the rest of your summer adventure proceed as planned!
What an adventure! very nice read! I suffered of altitude sickness a couple of weeks ago in Cusco, it was hard, there is nothing to do then rest and wait to adapt.
Wow, what an amazing story. So glad you rockstars are okay! It reminds me of when I was in Italy and took a wrong turn hiking by myself up what I later learned was the Alps (that shows how prepared I was). I was hopelessly lost and running out of water. I managed to find an Italian family on holiday, who drove me half an hour to where I was supposed to be. I don't know what I would have done without them. The interesting story wasn't that I hiked in the Alps - it was the rescue and relationship with strangers. I'm sure the suspension bridge and glacier would have been memorable and meaningful, but you're so right - the spontaneous relationships, kindness and generosity of strangers, and adventure are what will really last in your mind.
What a great story. I could feel the emotion of that day. I agree… things happen for a reason … we just have to trust. Love your writing with a bit of humor thrown in
You aren't wrong. And, we did use All trails for the rest of the trip as needed. However, the trail is so well-marked we thought we didn't need it. Ha!
Incredible story! Travel (or hiking) plans gone awry can result in some of the best experiences and lessons in Life School, and most interesting stories to share.
Thank you so much Rezonn. As far as being right where you are meant to be: I am learning to embrace the concept of letting things unfold as they will and trusting that is all for the best. Stay tuned for some writing that dives deeper into how that sometimes plays out.
Loved the adventure sharing. People on the TMB are so friendly and helpful - I love the idea of landing where you were meant to be. Great memories! I’d love to hear more.
Great view👍

You and I have had our share of adventures -- fortunately, none of them have involved throwing up! Thanks for reminding me of Maria's wise words.

Cusco! Now that's some altitude. Hopefully you, too, were able to proceed with your adventure.
Yes yes, it took some days to get better but I managed
Such a great story - adventure sprinkled with life lessons.
Thank you. So much to learn in life isn't there?

Love hearing your story -- and it's another reminder for me that when I meet someone who needs a bit of help -- I'm going to try and do my part.

Thank you. Thank you!
Hi Kaarin! Great writing! Nice to hear there’s been some surprises so far. But it might not be a bad idea to deploy a gps trail app for peace of mind.

Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your comments. You are absolutely right.
Wow. What compelling writing. It brought a tear to my eye.
Do you mind talking more about the concept of being right where you are meant to be?
