Thank you for so beautifully acknowledging our friend. Alex told me that the thing that made her saddest about dying was all the fun she would miss. What a great way to frame our lives…expect and create happiness always.

Thanks Chris. I'll always remember the poster she had in her living room, "That thing which makes you happy. Do That."

I wish more of us could talk about death with less fear and more vulnerability.

Beautifully written. I think this is a great way to honor your friendship and grieve all at once.

I agree -- we definitely need to start a conversation in this country about dying. Thanks for your lovely comment.

Achingly beautiful post, packed with life lessons. I agree that maybe the worst thing about dying would be worrying about those left behind.

What a beautiful tribute to your friend, Kaarin. It is courageous to talk about death and dying, and be "in the room with it." I wish I had known Alex -- I clearly could have learned a lot about how to approach life, and death, from her.

Wow! Thank you for sharing such an intimate moment with a friend. I haven't said that exact goodbye, but I could feel all the feels and imagined myself there. Thanks for letting me get a good cry in today.
