With each piece I read, I am in awe of your honesty and your ability to face it -and talk about it. There is such comfort gained in knowing we are not alone and we can evolve from challenges and be better from them. Your stories - whatever the topic- do that.

I love this story! So brave, so raw, so inspiring! I hope to be as courageous as you someday, to ask the tough questions and upend life to find what really matters!

My courageous friend, writing about all the messy moments and challenges of a marriage that are easier to ignore than confront -- until they aren't. Selfishly, I'm glad you chose a continued life of adventure with Van and not the Peace Corps so I can benefit from your ongoing regular presence in my life. You inspire me so much!

I love this! Unfortunately my wondering if is this all there is wasn’t something I could answer with my husband. So we divorced and I left everything behind to hit the road. I’ve been living out of my suitcase for 16 months now. I wouldn’t go back for anything. I’m glad to hear a different version of the story where two people can shake up their lives together. Best wishes as you hit the road!

Yes. The question has a different answer for everyone, but I love that you weren’t willing “to settle” — you wanted something more. Moving out of your comfort zone to find new wisdom and understanding. Brave woman. I salute you.

This really resonated with me, Kaarin. I'm 51 and pondering what comes next. The desire to upend my life is appealing. I love to travel. The road (or maybe the airlplane) is calling. Setting up shop in a foreign country feels more and more necessary for my own inner peace. And I am trying to figure out how to integrate more about travel into my own Substack. So glad to find your work! Would love to connect through Midstack or elsewhere.
